For years, American sports fans begged for a day off following the NFL Super Bowl. To relax, recover, spend time with family. The Super Bowl is on a Sunday, a school night, work due the next day. A Monday off for labor seems fair.
Well, America listened. Banks will close on Feb. 19, the day after Sunday’s NBA All-Star game, the first weekday after the league’s long weekend devoted to slams and jams. I find it a little offensive that we’re trying the holiday out on the NBA first, a sort of trial balloon, but I appreciate the earmark from our leaders in Washington.
The All-Star Weekend is here, upon us, with us, an hour’s drive away. Let’s pick some winners before we hop aboard the hatchback.
