Three decades ago, fans were forgiven for requiring the moment needed to tell one NBA player from the another. It was tougher to come across clips of NBA basketball games, let alone figure out why the Pacers ended up with two guys with the same last name but different first names.
We couldn’t flip a phone to find out, we had to wait until the next morning’s SportsCenter highlights for moving basketball images, Not that anyone was waiting for Dale and Antonio Davis highlights.
Later, we’d walk to school. It was so snowy.
Nobody confused them for brothers, “Davis” is too common a name, Antonio and Dale didn’t look alike, and the Pacers were kind enough to ensure one Davis came off the bench.
