If the Bulls switch arena naming rights, I’ll still call it ‘UC.’

And you’re fine to keep using the other brand to call the Lakers’ arena something other than “Lakers arena,” or whatever they’re changing the name to in the Year of Our Sweet Satan, 2021.

But we should, as a rule, just try to call these places by the team’s name.

We’re under no lingering journalistic policy here, in newsletters or in real life or on social media. We’ve no reason to keep up character while these buildings switch sponsors for us to promote. We should absolutely return to the custom of calling these places by the names of the uniforms that play there.
